Dr Palin, a specialist in General and Plastic surgery is the Managing Director cum Chairman of SHRI. A passionate entrepreneur, Dr. Palin constantly keeps himself abreast with the latest discoveries and innovations. His perseverance and hard work is what is behind the growth of SHRI as a hospital par excellence. He is constantly upgrading the hospital with the latest equipment and technology thus making medical facilities easily accessible to the common man. Dr. Palin is also a member of various organizations like the Indian Medical Association, Association of Surgeons of India, and the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India. He has won many accolades in his long stint in the medical profession and has in his capacity as a doctor reached out to the masses through free surgeries and other medical facilities for the poor.
He is the moving spirit behind Shija and path finder who conceived the idea of Shija. From a mono-practice clinic in 1985 at Paona Bazar, Imphal to the first ever ISO certified 200 bedded hospital in the state with 24 specialties including super-specialty.
He has envisioned his organization to be a premium & leading brand in healthcare services in the South East Asia, recognised by the customers for holistic approach, personal touch, and technological advancement by 2025.
He has successfully re-implanted 7 amputated finger and forearm for the first time in north eastern India .Dr Kh Palin and his team have set a record in Guinness World Record in April 2004 for successful excision of largest neck tumour (40 % of total body weight) in the world.
He is included in the top 50 pathfinder doctor entrepreneurs of India by Express Healthcare Management, a publication of Indian Express Group Jan 2009 for his ability to grow his organisation in turbulent environment like in Manipur.

Awarded North East Excellence Award for entrepreneur for large enterprises for 2009 by Indian Chamber of Commerce and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DONER), Government of India. As president 2008-09 of Rotary Club of Imphal he initiated ‘Rotary Heart to Heart Project’ to help poor children with congenital heart diseases undergo corrective operation outside the state as such facility is not yet available in Manipur. 90 such children have been operated so far free of cost to them and the project will be an ongoing one.
As president of IMA and Rotary Club of Imphal he worked intensive awareness programs on environment, tree plantation, old age management, life style related diseases etc.
In his contribution towards the neighbouring country, he initiated the venture of Mission Myanmar in May 2013 with a firm belief to bring the two nations together. Three successful missions were conducted wherein 134 cleft lip and palate, 179 cataract blindness and 32 key hole surgeries were performed for free.
Dr. Bonney Khundongbam is responsible for financial affairs of the organization. Credit goes to her for streamlining and cost reduction activities taken up in the organization in the last couple of years. She is a sonologist by Profession and associated with various institutes such as IMA, Federation of Utrasound in Medicine and Biology, Shija Foundation etc. She has played a vital role in bringing out good internal controls in the day to day functioning of the hospital.
Being a founder member of SHRI, her contribution has been remarkable throughout the journey. Her key activities also include planning, designing and execution of new projects.
Dr. Kh. Bonney is currently holding the position of CEO. She is entrusted with the task of taking care of financial affairs and materials management of the hospital. She is also project director of the smile train project initiated by SHRI. Her contribution in planning and execution of new projects taken up by Shija has been remarkable.
Dr Jugindra Sorokhaibam is a founding member of the Board of Directors. He is a General Surgeon by profession with an appreciable practice as a minimal access surgeon.
Besides being instrumental in setting up one of the most advanced and sophisticated laparoscopic surgeries, endo-urology and endoscopic facilities for the first time in Manipur and the North East region, he is credited with performing some of the most advanced and sophisticated laparoscopic surgeries for the first time in the state and the region. Recognizing his expertise in the field, his guidance in providing various trainings are being sought by various healthcare units and associations. He is a member and also a trainer of Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). He is also the Treasurer of AMASI.
He was invited as one of the International Taskforce Panel Members at the international conference on Humanitarian Medical Missions held at Singapore General Hospital for his contribution as a relief volunteer in the Gujarat Earthquake, 2001.
Dr Jugindra is also member of many organizations like the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia( ELSA), Indian Medical Association(IMA), Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International etc.
He also oversees the functioning of the Medical Consultants team, Nursing department, Medical Records and the Pharmacy of the SHRI. He has played a crucial role as part of the management team in building SHRI as a leading hospital in the region along with Dr. Palin.
Mrs. Gayatri Maibam is instrumental in development of the Human resource in the organization. She also plays a key role in upgrading the level of nursing care and allied services in the organization. She holds the stern to guide the staff to move towards the object of the organization. It is her initiative to plan and implement trainings for the various levels of staff.
Her key activities also include recruitment, organizing training programmes and restructuring the hierarchy of administration for the smooth functioning of the hospital. In her capacity as Director of SHRI, she has brought in a sea change in the administrative processes of the hospital. She has been a backbone of the Management team with a strong aim to reach the vision of Shija.
She is a Master in Sociology and associated herself in many social activities such providing HIV and AIDS awareness to the masses. She is instrumental in implementing various social impact services in the organization such as immunization, community services, MDOT, etc.
Suresh Thokchom, General Manager, an accomplished healthcare business management offering more than 16+ years of Domain Expertise and integrating proficiency in Business Development, Revenue Enhancement, Project Planning & Implementation, Event / Brand Management, Social Impact Management and Quality Compliance & Improvement, innovative approach & cost control initiatives. He is involved in identifying scopes for Project Development, Project Implementation, Strategic Planning, Business Plan preparation and implementation, and General Administration for the smooth functioning of the organisation. He is an alumni of Manipur Institute of Management Studies, MU. He has undergone training in various areas in healthcare management. ICM, IIM-S, EDI, IIHMR, MIMS and Third EYE, are amongst the various training institutes. Social Impact Management is an area he is concentrating on and he is maintaining association with various organisations such as World Bank, IFC, MLSS, MCCI, Yi, PFA etc. He is instrumental in ideation and development of sustainable project for sustainable social development related to health care. He is also instrumental in the various projects taken up for the organisation such as SAN, Expansion Project Phase I, Blood Bank, Oxygen Plant, Expansion Project Phase II etc. He took a main role in smooth sailing of the organisation.
Mr. Santosh Shekhar is responsible for spearheading all Brand, Marketing and Sales activities at Shija Hospitals to achieve its vision of being the leader in ‘healthcare of North East India'. He has more than 10 years of experience in healthcare marketing.
He has an academic background with marketing exposure. He has also undergone training for Creative Marketing at IIM-B and also have been exposed to many refresher course and training organized by IIM- Shillong and various other bodies like, CII, ICC, World Bank etc. As a member of the Core Management team he has been directly involved in guiding the strategy and execution of the business plans in the healthcare domain.

Established in 1985, Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) has evolved from a mono-practice clinic attached to a pharmacy at Paona Bazar, Imphal, into a 350-bedded multi-specialty hospital with 37 specialties and super-specialties. SHRI strictly follows the system of segregation of bio-medical waste at source and ultimately appropriate treatment and disposal of waste through incinerator, shredder, sharp pit, deep burial etc. for the safety of environment. The only Common Bio Medical Waste Treatment Facility in the state is operated by Shija Hospitals and is recognized by Manipur Pollution Control Board.
Shija is also a teaching institute providing BSc nursing, paramedical and 3 years post graduate DNB courses in General Surgery, Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, Ophthalmology and post MBBS (direct 6 years) DNB course in Plastic Surgery. Under Shija Overseas Training Program, SHRI in collaboration with AMASI (Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India), took up the initiative of providing free training to two surgeons and six nurses from Monywa General Hospital, Myanmar for two months in the areas of Laparoscopic surgery, Operation Theatre Technology and Critical Care.
