Clinical Laboratory

Our Laboratory is the first NABL accredited hospital based laboratory in Manipur with the scope of services including Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, and Haematology. Our Laboratory is one of the leading diagnostic laboratories in Manipur by virtue of its uniqueness in offering diverse tests, reliability and prompt turnaround time. We provide reliable diagnostic services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for patients, general practitioners and other hospitals. A medical diagnostic laboratory is more than the backbone of a treating physician; it is the very soul of diagnosis.

Consultancy in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Pathology & Histopathology are done by qualified post-graduate medical personnel who have vast knowledge and experienced in the variation, pit-falls and loop-holes of lab.

Quality Assurance

Department of Pathology of Shija Hospitals & Research Institute Pvt.Ltd. is committed to assuring quality and maintaining NABL(National Accreditation Board of testing & Calibration Laboratories)standards. The following are our quality assurance programs:

Pre-Analytical Quality Control

  • Patient identification
  • Universal precaution
  • Collection of sample in appropriate vacutainer/ appropriate container

Analytical Quality Control

  • Tests are done by well qualified & trained technicians using latest technology.
  • Internal Quality Control: Two levels of quality control materials run daily, retesting of random samples done daily.
  • External Quality Control Program with BIO-RAD, USA every month for Biochemistry tests and AIIMS EQAP for Hematology tests.
  • Inter-laboratory comparison done with Dr.Lalpath Labs ,Delhi & Babina Diagnostics,Imphal twice in a year for the tests which are not in External Quality Control program or when necessary.

Post-Analytical Quality Control

  • Finalization of test result by Consultant after viewing the history in TRF (Test requisition form)
  • Effective communication: **Critical values Call Back
  • Fastest Turn Around Time
  • Emergency: 30 minutes to 1 hour (depending on the test)
  • IPD: 2 hour to 4 hours
  • Clinico-pathological conversation
  • Review of Histopathology slides and blocks from outside sources for second opinion.
  • We have developed **Critical values Call Back protocol, which is regularly maintained in the hospital.

**Critical Values, also known as panic or alert values, are laboratory results that indicates life-threatening situation for the patient. Because of their critical nature, urgent notification of a critical value to the appropriate healthcare professional is done through telephonic conversation.
