Shija Blood Bank & Transfusion Services

State of the art Shija Blood Bank & Transfusion Services is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative, funded by North East Council, Shillong and Planning Department, Govt. of Manipur. This is the only licensed blood bank accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) in North Eastern states. It is equipped with Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) facility to screen HIV, Hepatitis B & C Virus which is the first installation in the entire Eastern India.

Shija Oxygen Plant

Shija Oxygen Plant is also a PPP initiativefunded by North East Council, Shillong and Planning Department, Govt. of Manipur. The Oxygen plant has been introduced with the objective of generation of Oxygen and other medical gases to meet the demand from different users including hospitals, clinics, workshops, fire departments, manufacturing units etc. in the state.

The project shall contribute in solving the problem of shortage of medical gas supply in the state during the inevitable crisis like economic blockade and other disruptions. The project shall also help in generating employment to the local populace.

Cost of oxygen and other medical gases will be significantly reduced as the overhead of transportations from far flung places shall not be involved. The project is currently under process and will be completed soon.

Shija Vitamin Angels Project

It is a project to provide free Vitamin A supplements and Albendazole to all children between 6 months and 5 years of age. It is a collaborative effort of SHCRI and Vitamin Angels, a US based NGO, working with the sole objective of giving Vitamin A supplements to all children in developing countries.

A simple cost effective dose of vitamin A every six months can prevent blindness and reduce under-five child mortality by 24% in at risk populations. Vitamin A Deficiency (VAD) is the most common cause of preventable blindness in children under five and reduction of VAD has a vital role in maintaining eye health and vision, growth, and immune function.

Free Vitamin A for children between 6 months and 5 years and Albendazole for children between 1 year and 5 years is distributed in various camps and are also available on all days at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, HealthCity Langol.

The management of the institute has been entrusted to an elected decision making body called Managing Committee by the General Body of the Institute. The Executive members of the Managing committee is elected every year during the Annual General Body Meeting
